Our Government Agencies Learned Nothing from COVID: HHS in Talks with Pfizer and Moderna about mRNA-Based Bird Flu Vaccine

The new vaccine, currently in bulk form, will be processed and finished in multidose vials by one of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) manufacturing partners, ensuring that seasonal flu vaccine production remains unaffected. This information was reported by the University of Minnesota’s Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP).

Have they learned nothing?!!!!

It is unlikely that they have a sterilizing vaccine, which means they could potentially drive the emergence of new variants, just as occurred with COVID-19.

Federal health officials are intensifying their efforts to address the growing threat of H5N1 bird flu by planning the production of 4.8 million vaccine doses and enhancing influenza surveillance nationwide. This decision follows the identification of two new human bird flu cases in Michigan and Australia, raising concerns about the virus’s potential for human transmission.

HHS Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response Dawn O’Connell stated on Wednesday that federal agencies are actively discussing the key triggers for deploying the H5N1 vaccine doses. These triggers may include signs of the virus spreading among people not employed on farms, evidence of human-to-human transmission, or indications that the virus is causing more severe illness in infected individuals.

O’Connell also mentioned that HHS is in discussions with Pfizer and Moderna about the development of mRNA-based bird flu vaccines.
